(BOSTON, MA, 2/16/2023) – The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA) today welcomed hate crime charges for the perpetrator of an alleged anti-Asian attack in Quincy.
The charges were filed against a man who allegedly struck an Asian man with his car twice while saying “go back to China” last month. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

“The rise in anti-Asian hate nationwide is a disturbing trend, and we are partnering with leaders and organizations addressing this issue on a local level. We welcome these charges as evidence that such violence will not be tolerated,” said CAIR-MA Executive Director Tahirah Amatul-Wadud.
She said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
