The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned political donor Haim Saban for a “hateful, petulant” anti-Muslim email he reportedly sent to the White House demanding that President Biden to continue sending military supplies to Israeli government even if it escalates its attacks on Rafah. CAIR also called on the Biden administration to condemn Saban and cut ties with him.
In an email full of misspellings and improper punctuation, Saban said that “there are more Jewish voters, who care about Israel, than Muslim voters who care about Hamas (sp).”
In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“We strongly condemn Haim Saban’s unhinged, hateful and petulant message, which was both virulently anti-Muslim and also erased the many Jewish Americans who oppose the Israeli government’s attacks on the people of Gaza. The White House should reject Mr. Saban’s threatening email, condemn his hateful message and cut ties with him. Megadonors like Haim Saban should have no more access to policymakers or influence over public policy than the average American. The fact that Mr. Saban felt that he could send such a childish and disrespectful message to senior White House staff is a troubling sign about the amount of weight he thinks his voice carries in the Biden administration.”
