The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned Israeli government Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu’s call for the Islamic holy month of Ramadan to be “wiped out” and called on the Biden administration to condemn the remark.
“The so-called month of Ramadan must be wiped out, and our fear of this month must also be wiped out,” Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu told Army Radio. In November, Eliyahu said dropping a “nuclear bomb” on the Gaza Strip is “an option.”

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“Once again, an Israeli government official has openly made genocidal remarks that the Biden administration has failed to condemn. Enough is enough. The Israeli government keeps screaming to everyone that will listen that it is waging a war on the entire Palestinian population, as well as their cultural symbols, from churches to mosques to even Ramadan itself. It is time for President Biden to condemn the Israeli government before it acts on its latest genocidal threats.”
He noted that yesterday, CAIR called on the Biden administration to condemn the far-right Israeli government’s massacre of more than 100 starving Palestinians who were waiting for humanitarian relief when they were killed. This massacre pushed the death toll in Gaza to over 30,000.
