(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/5/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a neo-Nazi march that occurred on Sunday in Lewiston, Maine.
Members of a neo-Nazi group known as the “Nationalist Social Club 313” gathered at a public park near city hall in Lewiston, a city that home to a large immigrant community. They reportedly held signs with racist messages targeting Somali-Americans.
“We condemn this hateful display intended to intimidate the immigrant community of Lewiston and stand in solidarity with all those targeted by this white supremacist hate,” said CAIR National Communications Coordinator Ismail Allison. “All Americans must come together to strongly repudiate white supremacy and all other forms of racial and ethnic of bigotry.”
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
