CAIR Condemns Racist Anti-Immigrant Posters Targeting Hispanic-Owned Businesses in Iowa

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned racist, anti-immigrant posters posted in Hampton, Iowa.

Hampton police say they are investigating after racist signs were taped to multiple Hispanic-owned businesses in the north central Iowa town this week.

“We condemn this disturbing hate propaganda and stand in solidarity with the Hispanic community and all residents of Hampton and Iowa against attempts by bigots to intimidate minority communities and divide our society,” said CAIR National Communications Manager Ismail Allison

He noted that earlier today, CAIR welcomed hate crime charges brought against a man who allegedly made racist anti-Arab, anti-Asian threats and comments targeting Arab and Asian sorority members meeting at the University of Wisconsin in Madison last year.

Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
