The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a recruitment effort by a white supremacist group in Mississippi.
According to police officials in Magee, Mississippi, stickers promoting a group called Patriot Front have been placed on gas pumps in the city. “According to the FBI, Patriot Front is a white supremacist organization that believes their ancestors conquered America and that the nation was bestowed solely upon them.”
CAIR has opposed Patriot Front activities nationwide.
“Local, state and national leaders must oppose the growing recruitment efforts witnessed nationwide by groups promoting racist and white supremacist ideologies,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “It must be clearly demonstrated that bigots are in the minority in our nation.”
Earlier this month, CAIR condemned the distribution of white supremacist propaganda in Whitefish, Montana.
Hooper said Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
