(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/30/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today congratulated the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and the Muslim American Society (MAS) on its successful 48th annual conference held in Baltimore over the weekend.
The conference, which had over 20,000 attendees, featured panel discussions and events focusing on various spiritual, social, and legal issues. CAIR hosted a panel discussion entitled “The Watchlist: Defending Civil Rights” on May 28. The discussion was centered on the federal government’s discriminatory so-called “terrorist watchlist” and what American Muslims can do if they are unjustly placed on the list. Speakers included CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell, CAIR Trial Attorney Justin Sadowsky, and Prospect Park, NJ Mayor Mohammed Khairullah.
“We congratulate ICNA and MAS on a successful convention that brought tens of thousands of American Muslims together to fellowship with each other and renew our commitment to advance positive change by harnessing the values of our shared faith,” said CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell.
