(HARTFORD, CT, 5/10/2022) – The Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CT) today sought the public’s help in identifying the man who broke into and vandalized a Waterbury, Conn., mosque.
The man reportedly forced entry into the Masjid al-Mustafa mosque last Wednesday and broke several windows. Waterbury Police provided an image of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waterbury Police Burglary Squad Detectives at (203)-574-6941 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (203)-755-1234.

“Houses of worship must be places of security for their communities, free from intimidation and acts of violence,” said CAIR-CT Chairman Farhan Memon. “We call on members of the public to assist Waterbury police in finding the perpetrator of this disturbing crime.”
He said the American Muslim community and CAIR stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
