CAIR Coordinates White House Tour for Maryland Muslim Students

CAIR logo(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/13/17) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, recently led Maryland Muslim college and high school students on a visit to the White House in Washington, D.C.

The group of students – who attend Towson University, University of Maryland College Park, University of Baltimore, Loyola University, Prince George’s Community College, and Duvall High School – toured the White House complex and learned about its history.

“A government of the people, by the people, for the people, should also serve and reflect all its people – including American Muslims,” said CAIR Maryland Outreach Manager Dr. Zainab Chaudry. “We have an obligation to empower our community’s youth, and encourage them to be civically and politically engaged, particularly in this tense political climate.”

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
