(WASHINGTON, D.C., 2/24/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an anti-Semitic “Day of Hate” planned for this Saturday by neo-Nazi groups and encouraged American Muslims to offer support to their Jewish neighbors.
The New York City Police Department’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureau says hate groups are “instructing likeminded individuals to drop banners, place stickers and flyers, or scrawl graffiti as a form of biased so-called action.”

In a statement, CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“We strongly condemn the so-called ‘Day of Hate’ reportedly organized by neo-Nazis and white supremacists, and express solidarity with our Jewish neighbors across the country.
“American Muslims know how it feels to be targeted in this way, having dealt with ‘Punish a Muslim Day’ and the ‘March Against Sharia’ in recent years. We know that solidarity is the best way to confront these dangerous and bigoted campaigns.
“We encourage mosques to contact neighborhood synagogues to offer support, solidarity and advice. We also encourage law enforcement to take steps to protect synagogues in their local jurisdictions.
“Hateful events like this should bring diverse racial and religious communities closer together in the fight against the extremism that threatens all of us. God willing, that’s the only thing that will happen this weekend.”
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
Mitchell said Washington, D.C., based CAIR is urging religious institutions of all faiths to take extra security precautions and is offering community leaders an online copy of its booklet, “Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety,” with security advice applicable to all institutions.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
