The groups will express concerns over the stance adopted by several members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation and call for measures aimed at bringing a lasting end to the violence that has resulted in 14,800 Palestinians being killed, according to Reuters.

In a statement, CAIR Regional Community Engagement Manager in NC Al Rieder said:

“This is an urgent call from the Muslim community of North Carolina on local Congressional representatives in the Triangle to take stronger action on the Gaza crisis, as well as to address the surging anti-Muslim bigotry, anti-Palestinian racism, and anti-Arab racism in our community. With this, there is potential for large impact on policies from local representatives. The surge in incidents of anti-Muslim and anti-Arab hatred holds profound implications for the well-being of the local community.”

Muslims, Arabs, and Palestinians across the country report a surge in anti-Muslim and anti-Arab hate since the escalation of violence in Palestine and Israel last month. Recently, CAIR released new data indicating a 216 percent surge in complaints, including reported incidents of bias, reported to its offices since the start of the crisis on October 7th.
