Monica Rahim, a senior policy and advocacy manager with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, tells TNA that they are getting requests for “know your rights” training and what to do if arrested, including from students who are not US citizens.
“This is not going away,” Rahim told TNA. “People are putting their eyes towards long-term mobilisation and the collective liberation of marginalised groups. It’s bigger, and people realise it’s bigger, as they do slow down over the summer.”

Fauziya Faruk spoke on behalf of the Council on American Islamic Relations. In her remarks, Ms. Faruk said the conflict affects many Rancho Cordova residents, many of whom have familial ties there, and urged the city council to adopt a cease-fire resolution.
“This conflict impacts us here in Rancho Cordova, not just overseas,” she said. “The trauma and anxiety felt by our residents call for our council’s urgent response.”

Unlike congressional lawmakers, civil rights groups are in resounding agreement: the office needs more money.
“Is it a good idea to give more funding to this agency? Absolutely,” said Edward Ahmed Mitchell, CAIR’s national deputy director.
CAIR-NJ: Police Keep Protesters At Bay During Rally
The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization criticized the mayor’s remarks saying the rally was a “planned pro-Palestinian peaceful protest.”
CAIR-NJ called the mayor’s statements inappropriate and hostile. “By telling the community to remain vigilant in the face of peaceful assembly creates the harmful rhetoric that pro-Palestinian protestors are dangerous, violent and even implicitly criminal.”

“NYU Langone chose to use that moment where I highlighted my Palestinian identity as the reason they deemed me no longer able to provide the care they honoured me for only moments before,” Jabr said in a news conference in New York, hosted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Wednesday.

On April 30, counterdemonstrators attacked the encampment, using fireworks and crude weapons, with law enforcement failing to intervene for several hours. Police tore down the initial pro-Palestinian encampment the following night, arresting more than 200 people.
The Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a civil rights and advocacy organization, condemned the arrests, criticizing UCLA for carrying out a “militarized police response” to an “anti-genocide encampment.” The organization also denounced police for failing to protect protesters from violence.
Similarly, in virtually the same time period, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) received 3,578 complaints of anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian discrimination and hate, nearly a 180% rise from the same period a year earlier.
