CAIR: Anti-Israel protests spark surge in campus censorship, says free speech group – Washington Times
Edward Ahmed Mitchell, deputy national director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy group, accused the nation’s top colleges of stifling peaceful protests.
“By slandering, censoring and even brutalizing students who launched overwhelmingly peaceful sit-ins to end their schools’ financial entanglement with the Israeli government and its genocide in Gaza, many colleges and universities jettisoned their commitment to free speech,” Mr. Mitchell said.
CAIR-LA: Organizers of Israeli real estate event in LA under investigation in New Jersey – LA Public Press
“Within the United States, but specifically California, we have strong policies that really look down on discriminating against somebody in real estate and the sale of land based on their protected characteristics, national origin being one, religion being another,” says Dina Chehata, an attorney at the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Greater Los Angeles, a public advocacy organization for Muslims in the United States. “At a very minimum we know that Palestinians were definitely not welcome to those events.”

Zahra Billoo, executive director of the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the organization is open to being brought into the conversation but doesn’t support removing curriculum developed by educators.
“We had opposed this bill because it appeared to be an effort by legislators with an apparent pro-Israel bias to problematically influence ethnic studies,” Billoo said. “I worry that it is disingenuous to malign ethnic studies efforts as antisemitic in the way that some legislators and advocates have attempted to do.”
