(WASHINGTON, D.C., 5/8/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today joined the call by police in Arlington County, Va., for information on a person who allegedly left a Crystal City restaurant without paying, pushed a restaurant employee to the ground and used anti-Asian slurs.
Arlington County police have referred the case to Virginia State Police as a possible hate crime.

“We urge anyone with information about this disturbing incident to contact law enforcement authorities,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Every American has a role to play in pushing back against bigotry, whether it targets Asian-Americans or any other minority community.”
Hooper said the American Muslim community and CAIR stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Asian hate, anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
