The Kansas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-KS), today welcomed the arrest of a man suspected of vandalizing a Catholic church in Wichita. CAIR-KS also expressed solidarity with the Catholic community.
Law enforcement arrested a 23-year-old in connection with the vandalism of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wichita. The church had been vandalized with hate speech and items such as statues, candles, and glass had been damaged. An American flag had also been burned. The suspect has been charged with burglary, criminal desecration, and criminal damage to property.

“We thank law enforcement authorities for taking action to apprehend the suspect in this disturbing case,” said CAIR-Kansas Board Chair Moussa Elbayoumy. “We stand in solidarity with the congregation and the Catholic community of Wichita.”
