CAIR-MI Calls on State Officials to Speak Out, Take Action After Israel Murders Family in Lebanon with Relatives in Dearborn

The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) today called on elected officials in Michigan to publicly condemn and take action in response to the murder of five civilians—including three children and their father—by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

The sister of the man who was killed in the strike lives in Dearborn, Michigan.

“This brutal killing of innocent civilians, including children, should outrage every elected official in our state—especially when our own community members in Michigan are directly impacted,” said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid. “We urge our state leaders to speak out against these atrocities and to demand accountability for Israel’s ongoing genocide and its violations of human rights and international law.”

Walid also offered condolences to the relatives of those killed: “To God we belong and to Him we return. We offer our deepest condolences to the relatives and loved ones of those martyred in this atrocity. We pray that God grants them solace, comfort and strength.”
