(SOUTHFIELD, MI, 4/17/08) – The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) yesterday conducted sensitivity training for law enforcement officers of the Canton Police Department in Canton Township, Mich.
The presentation focused on basic Islamic beliefs and practices, religious attire and modesty issues. The training, which was held in the Canton Cable Television studio, is scheduled to be aired on Canton Community Television for general community viewing.
CAIR, America’s largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
