The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) today condemned alleged racist, neo-Nazi vandalism targeting a couple in Kalamazoo County.
According to reports, the victims awoke to find slashed tires, racial slurs, and a Nazi swastika spray-painted on their vehicle. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as a hate crime.
“We unequivocally condemn this alleged act of racist, neo-Nazi hate and intimidation,” said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid. “No one should have to live in fear because of their race, ethnicity, or faith. We call on law enforcement authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. Acts of bigotry must be met with zero tolerance.”
He added that CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
