(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 2/28/22) – The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) today called on the FBI to investigate a robbery at Masjid Al-Ihsan in St Paul, Minn.
Mosque leaders were alerted by security cameras early Sunday morning showing two white men entering the mosque and removing a safe. They appeared to have the ability to enter through the mosque’s security system. The men, who did not wear masks, drove a black pick-up truck without any license plates.
[MEDIA ADVISORY: Mosque leaders will host a media availability at the mosque at 1 p.m. CT today, Monday February 28, at 955 W Minnehaha Ave., St. Paul, MN 55104]
“We call on the FBI to join the St Paul Police Department in the investigation of this incident targeting a house of worship,” said CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein. “We will be working with mosque leaders throughout Minnesota to increase security precautions.”
He said CAIR is urging houses of worship to take extra security precautions using its “Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety” booklet. The advice in CAIR’s security publication is applicable to religious institutions of all faiths.
