(ST LOUIS, MO, 12/20/2021) – The Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Missouri) today called for a hate crime investigation into racist vandalism targeting a Black history mural on the campus of Washington University in Clayton, Mo.
University officials said on Sunday that the mural was vandalized with the symbol and name of a white supremacist group and the faces of prominent Black figures were painted over. The university said the racist graffiti has been removed and that it is investigating the vandalism.

Hameed said the American Muslim community and CAIR stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
