CAIR Welcomes Missouri Church’s Decision to Remove Anti-Muslim Sign

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a Missouri church’s decision to remove an anti-Muslim sign and encouraged the church to reach out to its Muslim neighbors to engage in dialogue.

Last week, a church in Ballwin posted a sign on its property that read, “Pray against Islam, a demonic religion.”

In a statement, CAIR said:

“This church has the constitutional right to express whatever religious views it wants, including hostility to Islam. At the same, it is better for everyone when houses of worship focus on building up their own faith communities instead of denigrating other faith communities. We encourage this church to engage with its Missouri Muslim neighbors and engage in respectful, intelligent discussion, or even debate, about the concerns that led it to post this sign.”
