(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 5/16/16) — The Minnesota/Dakotas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and The Advocates for Human Rights on Friday presented its annual “Immigrant of Distinction Award†to Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN).
The award is in recognition to Hussein’s outstanding contribution to social justice. Each year at its Upper Midwest Immigration Law conference, the AILA recognizes an immigrant for his or her outstanding contribution to the society.Â
“We thank the American Immigration Lawyers Association for recognizing both Jaylani Hussein’s dedication to social justice and CAIR’s positive impact in the community,†said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
