The North Carolina office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NC), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of antisemitic and neo-Nazi propaganda in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In a statement, CAIR-NC Community Engagement Manager Al Rieder said:
“We strongly condemn the distribution of this antisemitic and neo-Nazi propaganda. Antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, and all other forms of bigotry are dangerous and must be rejected by people of conscience everywhere. Hate targeting one community threatens the safety and dignity of all communities.
“We stand with our Jewish neighbors and all those impacted by hate, and we urge swift action to ensure accountability and to prevent further incidents.”
Washington, D.C., based CAIR called on community leaders, elected officials and law enforcement authorities to work collaboratively to protect vulnerable communities and uphold mutual respect.
Earlier this month, CAIR welcomed the arrest of a suspect in an arson attack that heavily damaged Beth Israel Congregation synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, which was previously bombed by the Ku Klux Klan in 1967.
The Muslim civil rights organization added that it and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
