The rally and teach-in is first and foremost an educational event led and organized by local educators from the state of New Jersey and New York. Human rights organizations as well as activism groups are joining hands to spread awareness and call people to action for their respective causes.
Among the participating organizations involved in Sunday’s event, is the local Teaneck chapter of Black Lives Matter, the Paterson chapter of Black Lives Matter, the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the North Jersey chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace, the New Jersey chapters of Young Muslims, the Abolish ICE New York-New Jersey coalition, Teaching While Muslim LLC, Latino Muslims of New York, the New Jersey chapter of Amend the 13th, the New Jersey chapter of American Muslims for Palestine, Colombianos En New York, the NJ Anti-War Agenda, Misericordua Para La Humanidad, aka the 3 Puerto Rican Imams, and the Palestinian American Community Center.
So while “North Jersey Unites” will serve as a platform to express the grievances of different groups and list calls to action, in a way it is also a celebration. It is a coming together of different groups of people for a united cause.
