On Thursday, March 21, the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) and coalition partners will join Palestinian-American families in New York who have lost family members in Israel’s genocide on Gaza.
New York families who have loved ones in Gaza share their stories of loss and suffering, with some who have family members, including young children, now starving and surviving on bird seed. Others have family who may die without access to diabetes medication. Another lost his 75-year-old father in an airstrike. Three children who recently arrived from Gaza will also share their harrowing story of a nightmarish, hours-long walk from north Gaza to the south, witnessing the death and destruction around them, and how they tragically had to leave their father behind.
These New Yorkers fear their families may not survive the bombs raining down on Gaza and the starvation if President Biden and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand do not immediately call for a ceasefire.

In 2023, CAIR-NY recorded 555 requests for legal assistance in 2023, of which 239 were directly related to Palestinian solidarity representing 43% of its requests. These numbers continue to rise with CAIR-NY receiving 122+ requests for assistance thus far in 2024 reflecting a continued surge in anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian incidents in New York.
