(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/10/2020) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today offered sincere condolences on the passing of Dr. Ahmad Jaber, who passed away this morning in New York City.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“Humanity lost one of its finest today. Dr. Jaber was a humble man, a physician, a community builder, a philanthropist, and a spiritual leader. He was loved by all the people he met. God bless his soul. To God we belong and to him we return.”
CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher added:
“Dr. Jaber was known to many for his dedication to public service, including his vision to uplift his community as president and founder of the Arab American Association of New York. To Dr. Jaber’s family, and to all those that grieve from the loss of a beloved family member and/or community leader dedicated to creating a positive impact, we offer our sympathies and our prayers.”
In a tweet, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said:
“I send my condolences to New York’s Arab & Muslim community as we mourn the loss of Dr. Ahmad Jaber who was a pillar of unity, tolerance and justice. May he rest in peace.”

The funeral prayer is scheduled for tomorrow after Friday noon prayers at Beit al Maqdis in Brooklyn.
