The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today offered its condolences to the family and friends of Alhaji Alieu Dausy and Haja Isatu Wurie, a couple from Bowie, Maryland, who tragically passed away during the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia due to extreme heat conditions.
Kim Syuardi, Maryland Outreach Coordinator of CAIR, stated:
“To God we belong and to Him we return. We are heartbroken to learn of the untimely passing of Alhaji Alieu Dausy and Haja Isatu Wurie. Their dedication to their faith and their community was exemplary, and their loss is deeply felt by all who knew them. Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones during this difficult time. We pray that God rewards them and enters them into paradise.”
Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks has confirmed the tragic passing of Alhaji Alieu Dausy and Haja Isatu Wurie during their pilgrimage to Mecca. The couple succumbed to severe heat conditions while in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Alsobrooks expressed her sorrow and highlighted the significant contributions of the deceased to their community. “Alhaji Alieu Dausy and Haja Isatu Wurie passed away during a pilgrimage to Mecca due to the severe heat,” Alsobrooks said. “Haja Isatu Wurie was an incredibly active member of our community.
