CAIR-Ohio Condemns Distribution of Racist Propaganda in Cincinnati, Planned White Supremacist Rally

The Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned both the distribution of racist propaganda in Cincinnati and a white supremacist rally planned for August 16 in Brown County, Ohio.

According to news reports, hateful flyers linked to white supremacist groups were found littered in Cincinnati neighborhoods, while a white nationalist rally has been planned for later this month, drawing concern from local residents and civil rights advocates.

In a statement, CAIR-Ohio Columbus and Cincinnati Executive Director Khalid Turaani said:

“The distribution of hate propaganda and the planned white supremacist rally are part of a growing movement that seeks to intimidate communities of color and sow division across our state and nation. CAIR-Ohio stands in full solidarity with the Black community and all those targeted by white supremacy, and we call on public officials, law enforcement authorities and community leaders to unequivocally repudiate these acts and ensure the safety of all Ohioans.”

Earlier this week, CAIR-Ohio expressed its support for the right of Mathura Sridharan, recently appointed as Ohio’s Solicitor General, to wear a traditional religious and cultural symbol—a bindi—following a wave of xenophobic and racist attacks online.

Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
