(BALTIMORE, MD, 12/26/21) – The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations today released its annual year-end publication marking some highlights from throughout the year.

Some of the organization’s 2022 highlights in Maryland included:
- Governor’s Proclamation and recognition by local leaders of the holy month of Ramadan
- Passage of a historic bill to protect Muslim girls’ right to wear hijab while competing in school sports
- Statewide Muslim Lobby Day featuring a legislative agenda with an emphasis on criminal and juvenile justice reforms
- Prayer and religious accommodations for Muslim students in schools and universities
- Religious accommodations for incarcerated Muslims
- Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium on Capitol Hill with a theme focused on defending international human rights
- Annual designation of October as ‘Statewide Bullying Prevention Month’ with interfaith partners, and more
