The video, posted one day ago, featuring an image of a student-athlete while a popular Israeli pop song playsin the background. The translated racist lyrics of the song appear to glorify and celebrate the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

In a statement, CAIR-San Diego Executive Director Tazheen Nizam said:

We are deeply disturbed by the overt racism exhibited in this post. The use of this racist and genocidal song is not only reprehensible but also indicative of a broader issue of unchecked racism within our public schools. This post reflects a disturbing display of anti-Palestinian racism and bias that continues to affect public school campuses.

“We commend University City High School for promptly removing the post and urge officials to issue a formal apology to Palestinian students and take appropriate disciplinary action. Students deserve a learning environment free from discrimination and hostility.”

“As a civil rights organization committed to upholding justice and defending civil liberties, CAIR-San Diego will continue to advocate for meaningful policies that challenge racism, bigotry, and discrimination in all forms.”

She added that earlier this year, CAIR released its 2025 Civil Rights Report “Unconstitutional Crackdowns,” which reveals that Islamophobia continues to be at an all-time high across the country. CAIR said viewpoint discrimination against those speaking out against genocide and apartheid was a key factor in many cases.

CAIR-SD is a chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization. CAIR’s mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
