The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said the “unconscionable impunity” granted by the world community for the ongoing genocide by the far-right government of indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu must end.
CAIR’s call for accountability for Israel’s geocide comes as a new report shows that more than 39,000 Palestinian children have been orphaned by Israel’s mass slaughter in Gaza.
Some 17,000 children have lost both parents in Israeli attacks in Gaza.
Today, the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said: “As humanitarians, we cannot accept that Palestinian civilians are dehumanized to the point of being unworthy of survival. #Gaza is a war without laws, humanity and accountability. Member States must use their political and economic leverage to enforce international law.”
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“The unconscionable impunity granted to Israel by our government and by leading elements of the world community must end. The ongoing slaughter, mass destruction, ethnic cleansing, and forced starvation inflicted on the Palestinian people – mainly impacting women and children – is a stain on humanity that will remain for decades to come. It is the systematic dehumanization of the Palestinian people that allows this genocide to continue. For the genocide to end, Palestinians must finally be viewed as human beings worthy of life and dignity.”
Yesterday, CAIR joined the call for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be arrested during his visit to Hungary after Israeli forces killed 22 people, including nine children, at a UNRWA clinic in Jabaliya.
Earlier this week, CAIR called the State Department’s response to the Israeli killing of Nine Palestine Red Crescent (PRCS) medics and several civil defense workers “shameful.” CAIR also called on the United States and the international community to pressure Israel to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza after all the bakeries in the strip closed citing shortages of flour and diesel.
