CAIR Says New Gallup Gaza Poll is Latest ‘Wake-Up Call’ for President Biden

Poll shows majority of Americans disapprove of Israel’s military actions in Gaza

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said that a new Gallup poll revealing that a majority of Americans disapprove of Israel’s military actions in Gaza represents the latest “wake-up call” for President Biden to call for an immediate ceasefire and hold Israeli officials to account for crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Fifty-five percent of Americans disapprove of Israel’s military response in Gaza, a 10-percentage point increase since November, according to the new poll.

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:

“Every day, more Americans are seeing the reality of the Israeli government’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. This Gallup poll is the latest wake-up call warning President Biden to change course, listen to the American people, and take concrete action to end U.S. financial and military support for the genocide. President Biden has the leverage to secure a ceasefire and full access to humanitarian aid by land, and he must use that leverage before the Israeli government bombs and starves thousands more to death with U.S. support.”

He noted that yesterday, CAIR said a report by the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine stating there are “reasonable grounds” to assert that the far-right Israeli government is engaged in a genocide in Gaza should spur international action for a permanent ceasefire and justice for the Palestinian people.
