The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said that a newly reported secret Trump administration proposal for a U.S.-Israeli takeover of Gaza and the theft of Palestinian land through a digital tokenization scheme “would amount to a war crime of historic proportions that would spark generations of conflict and forever stain America’s legacy.”
In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said:
“The reported proposal for a U.S.-Israeli takeover of Gaza and the mass theft of Palestinian land through a digital token scheme is not only morally abhorrent and illegal under international law — it would amount to a war crime of historic proportions that would spark generations of conflict and forever stain America’s legacy.
“Our nation does not have the moral or legal right to take ownership of a single square foot of Gaza and neither does the Israeli government. Gaza must be rebuilt under the supervision of indigenous, Palestinian leadership as part of a unified Palestinian state, free from foreign occupation.
“We call on President Trump to listen to the American people, who oppose U.S. support for the Gaza genocide and do not want U.S. troops entangled in more conflicts abroad. We also call on members of Congress to reject this dystopian plan and affirm the dignity, rights, and humanity of the Palestinian people.”
CAIR said it will continue oppose any policy rooted in genocide, apartheid, occupation, or ethnic cleansing.
The Washington Post reports:
“The 38-page prospectus seen by The Washington Post envisions at least a temporary relocation of all of Gaza’s more than 2 million population, either through what it calls ‘voluntary’ departures to another country or into restricted, secured zones inside the enclave during reconstruction.
“Those who own land would be offered a digital token by the trust in exchange for rights to redevelop their property, to be used to finance a new life elsewhere or eventually redeemed for an apartment in one of six to eight new ‘AI-powered, smart cities’ to be built in Gaza…
“Called the Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust, or GREAT Trust, the proposal was developed by some of the same Israelis who created and set in motion the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) now distributing food inside the enclave. Financial planning was done by a team working at the time for the Boston Consulting Group.”
Last week, CAIR called on Congress to “pick America over AIPAC” in response to a Quinnipiac poll showing that 50 percent of voters recognize that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, six in 10 voters (60 percent) oppose sending military aid to Israel, and an equal number of voters now express sympathy for Palestinians and Israelis (37 percent to 36 percent).
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
