The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said it is “running out of words to condemn Israeli atrocities” after 26 people were killed and 93 wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a mosque and a school sheltering displaced people in Gaza Sunday.
[NOTE: Israel has destroyed 814 of Gaza’s 1,245 mosques and severely damaged another 148. Three churches were also destroyed, and 19 cemeteries were deliberately targeted.]
In addition to the mosque massacre, Israel reportedly killed nine children in Jabalia refugee camp. Israel has slaughtered almost 42,000 in Gaza, mostly women and children.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“We are running out of words to condemn Israeli atrocities. The world stands by as Israel’s genocide continues to unfold in Gaza and is being extended to the illegally-occupied West Bank and Lebanon. The majority of the world’s population that stands against this genocide must pressure those – including Biden administration officials – who enable and excuse these atrocities. President Biden must order a stop to shipments of American weapons to the far-right Israeli government, force an immediate ceasefire in the region and end our government’s complicity with genocide.”
He noted that last week, CAIR said that the wiping out of 902 families in Gaza by Israeli forces over the past year is “undeniable proof of genocidal intent” on the part of the Israeli government.
CAIR recently said the Biden administration must stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza from being repeated in the occupied West Bank after an Israeli airstrike on a cafe in Tulkarem refugee camp killed at least 18 Palestinians and wounded many others.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
