CAIR Says Slovenia’s Ban on Israel Arms Sales Shows Europe ‘Slowing Waking Up’ to Israel’s Gaza Genocide

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said Slovenia’s ban all weapons trade with Israel is one more indication that Europe is “slowly waking up to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.”

In a statement, CAIR said:

“Slovenia’s principled decision to ban all weapons trade with the Israeli occupation is another positive sign that Europe is slowly waking up to the reality of Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Silence and complicity are no longer options for any nation that claims to stand for human rights and international law.

“We urge the Trump administration and other governments to follow Slovenia’s lead by immediately halting all military aid and arms sales to Israel, demanding a permanent ceasefire deal, and pursuing freedom for the Palestinian people.

“History will remember those who stood for justice and those who enabled genocide.”

Yesterday, CAIR welcomed the Canadian government’s announcement that it plans to recognize the State of Palestine and called President Trump’s implicit threat to scuttle a trade agreement with Canada over its decision the “latest sign” that his administration is putting Israel first, not America first.

Last month, CAIR welcomed the French government’s planned recognition of a Palestinian state.
