CAIR Says “Time for Action is Now” After President Biden Threatens to Freeze Offensive Weapons to Israeli Govt Over Rafah Invasion

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said the “time for action is now” in response to President Biden’s admission that the Israeli government has used American weapons to kill civilians and his threat to withhold offensive weapons if Israel launches a major invasion of Rafah.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

“Although we welcome President Biden’s long overdue threat to withhold offensive weapons from the genocidal Israeli government if it launches a full-blown invasion of Rafah, this should have happened over 30,000 slaughtered Palestinians ago and now it isn’t enough. The time for action is now. The invasion and mass bombardment of Rafah have already started, killing dozens of Palestinian civilians every day.

“Benjamin Netanyahu will not take President Biden or his shifting red lines seriously until he stops making vague threats and starts taking concrete action. The President should end the genocide here and now by fully freezing weapons shipments and demanding that the Israeli government agree to the ceasefire deal that is apparently on the table.”

He noted that yesterday, CAIR called on the Biden administration to condemn the Israeli takeover of the Rafah Crossing and the alleged execution of 20 Palestinians by Israeli forces.
