CAIR SFBA to Join Palestine Advocates at ‘End Meta Censorship’ Rally Outside Meta Headquarters

(SANTA CLARA, CA, 12/12/23) – Later today, the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will join the “Let Palestine Speak: End Meta Censorship” rally outside Meta headquarters in Menlo Park. 

WHAT: In response to reports of “shadow banning” on Meta’s Instagram and Facebook platforms, Jewish Voice for Peace, American Muslims for Palestine, CAIR San Francisco Bay Area, United Digital Front, Hero Tent, Palestinian Assembly for Liberation, the Palestine Solidarity Committee, Black Outreach, Silicon Valley For Palestine, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Palestinian Youth Movement, and Silicon Valley For Palestine are sponsoring a rally outside Meta headquarters to call on the company to end its practices of suppressing and restricting content from the Palestinian perspective.  

WHEN: Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m. 

WHERE: Meta Headquarters (by the Meta sign), 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park 

In a statement, CAIR-SFBA Executive Director Zahra Billoo said, “As advocates for justice, we are deeply concerned about the reports of ‘shadow banning’ affecting Palestinian voices on Meta’s platforms. Tomorrow’s rally is a collective call to end censorship and ensure that the Palestinian perspective is not stifled. We urge all those who stand for free expression and human rights to join us in making our voices heard outside Meta headquarters. Let us stand together in solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand an end to these censorship practices.”
