(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/21/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today reiterated its call for the removal of a Confederate monument from outside a courthouse in Robeson County, N.C.
The Robeson County Board of Commissioners may decide at their meeting today whether or not to remove a Confederate monument currently located outside the county courthouse. The local NAACP called for the monument to be removed back in February.

“We urge Robeson County commissioners to vote in favor of removing this symbol of injustice and white supremacy from what is supposed to be a house of justice for all citizens,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.
He noted that in February, CAIR expressed its support for the NAACP’s call to remove the monument.
