On Feb. 1, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will mark the 13th Annual World Hijab Day, initiated by organizers as a part of efforts to dismantle “bigotry, discrimination and prejudice against Muslim women.”
The National Education Association has urged educators and students to “show support for Muslim girls and women who are discriminated against for wearing a hijab” by participating in observing the day.
The vision of World Hijab Day organizers “is to create a world where we are united through our diversity.”

World Hijab Day has announced, “The theme for World Hijab Day 2025, celebrated annually on February 1st, is #HijabisUnsilenced—a powerful movement to amplify the voices of hijab-wearing women around the world. This theme celebrates the strength, resilience, and determination of hijabis who, despite facing stereotypes and prejudice, refuse to be silenced. It highlights the hijab as a symbol of empowerment, identity, and solidarity.”
