(WASHINGTON D.C., 7/5/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed President Biden’s announcement of intent to appoint Imam Mohamed Magid to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
In a statement released on Friday, President Biden announced his intent to appoint Imam Magid to the USCIRF.
Imam Magid serves as the Executive Religious Director of All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center in Sterling, Va. He is the Chairman of International Interfaith Peace Corps and the former President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and serves on the advisory board of the Peaceful Families Project and as Co-President of Religions for Peace. Imam Magid is also the Co-Founder of the Multifaith Neighborhood Network, which focuses on building bridges between Muslim, Evangelical Christian, and Jewish communities.
“We welcome news that President Biden intends to appoint Imam Magid to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom,” said CAIR Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell. “His long and stellar record of humanitarian and interfaith work will make him a valuable asset to the commission’s work.”
