The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a guilty plea by a man who made violent threats against a Palestinian rights organization.
A Utah man pleaded guilty to one felony count of transmitting threats in interstate commerce for making violent physical and sexual threats against a Palestinian rights organization ahead of a planned march in Washington D.C. back in 2023. The man reportedly left multiple threatening voicemails, saying “we know who you are, who your families are” and “you’re gonna die.” He also reportedly said “this is a war against Islam” and “Palestinians are going to die by the hundreds of thousands.”

In a statement, CAIR Research and Advocacy Director Corey Saylor said:
“We welcome the guilty plea in this disturbing case and are thankful that this individual will not be able to carry out any of his threats. Such intimidation by bigots cannot stop Americans from standing up and speaking out for the rights of the Palestinian people and opposing the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza.”
