(WASHINGTON, DC – 8/31/2021) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the official end of U.S. military presence in Afghanistan and commended President Biden for ending America’s longest war.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“We welcome the official end of U.S. military presence in Afghanistan and commend President Biden for ending America’s longest war. Going forward, our nation should honor the tens of thousands of Afghans and thousands of U.S. soldiers who died in this decades-long conflict by ending other military entanglements in Muslim-majority nations and instead focusing on diplomacy, peace-building and unifying our own nation.”
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
