CAIR Welcomes Recognition of Ramadan on Senate, House Floors in Maryland State Legislature

The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today welcomed the acknowledgment of Ramadan on the Senate and House floors this week by State Senator Clarence Lam and State Delegate Sean Stinnett.

Their remarks served as a timely reminder of the importance of celebrating inclusivity and diversity in Maryland communities.

The holy month, observed by approximately 2 billion Muslims worldwide, is marked by fasting, prayer, and reflection.

“Delegate Stinnett and Senator Lam’s remarks honored Maryland’s Muslim community and fostered understanding and respect among all faiths,” said CAIR’s Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry. “This recognition promotes inclusivity and appreciation for the rich tapestry of cultures and traditions that make up Maryland.”

Earlier this month, CAIR congratulated Muslim communities on Governor Moore’s proclamation commemorating the holy month.
