Muslim civil rights groups also welcomed Human Rights Watch report that Israel’s mass displacement in Gaza amounts to a war crime
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a UN report confirming that Israel’s actions in Gaza are consistent with the characteristics of genocide.
CAIR also welcomed a report by Human Rights Watch stating that Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity by deliberately causing the mass displacement of Palestinians in Gaza.
The UN report pointed to “mass civilian casualties and life-threatening conditions intentionally imposed on Palestinians” and stated that Israel’s warfare practices in Gaza “are consistent with the characteristics of genocide.”

A report by Human Rights Watch said that Israel’s mass displacement of Palestinians in Gaza amounts to “forcible transfer” and that “evidence shows it has been systematic and part of a state policy.” It also says Israeli actions appear to “meet the definition of ethnic cleansing.”

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“It is obvious to virtually all human rights organizations that the Israeli government is engaged in a campaign of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The whole world realizes what war crimes the far-right Israeli government is committing in Gaza.
“The Biden administration can no longer deny this reality and continue enabling and supporting the Israeli government’s genocide, mass destruction, ethnic cleansing, and forced starvation.”
He noted that yesterday, CAIR said that it considers President Biden a “war criminal” after his decision to continue sending weapons to the Israeli government after it flouted Biden’s 30-day deadline to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
