TODAY: CAIR-CT to Join Family of Murdered Muslim Motel Owner at Rally Against Bail Reduction

(HARTFORD, CT, JULY 10, 2021) – Later today, the Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CT) will join the family of a murdered Muslim Vernon motel owner Zeeshan Chaudry at a vigil and rally in Vernon, Conn., to demand that his alleged killer not receive any reduction in bail.

The rally will be held at the Motel 6 location where Chaudry was killed on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 4 pm, 51 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066. There will be a march along the Hartford Turnpike to raise public awareness of his case.

In attendance will be Chaudry’s family and community members who are concerned that Chaudry’s killer, who has already confessed to the murder, will have his bail reduced and be set free. The suspect’s bond was originally set at $5 million but was reduced to $2 million. He may be seeking a further reduction.

Thirty-year-old Zeeshan Chaudry was shot and killed June 27 during an argument with a guest over a $10 pool pass. The suspect shot Chaudry several times with a homemade gun, reportedly in front of children and other guests.

“My brother did not deserve to die violently like this,” says Adnan Chaudry. “He was a fun-loving peaceful guy who was about to get married to the love of his life. Releasing his murderer would be an injustice and like a slap in the face to his family. We urge the judge who will be considering any bail application to reject it. We want him prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

CAIR Connecticut, the state chapter of America’s largest Muslim civil rights organization is assisting the family at this time of grief.
