I’m here tonight obviously to support Bill 5328 establishing a working group to address Islamophobia in our schools, and I want to begin by stating clearly what many students are experiencing is not simply fear, or misunderstanding. It’s anti-Muslim racism, it’s discrimination rooted in religion, ethnicity, ancestry and, as Professor Grewal said, perceived identity.
