In 2025, CAIR is working to protect non-profit organizations from attempts to smear them, silence them and even shut them down because of their advocacy for Palestinian human rights.

CAIR’s policy experts have countered dangerous bills, hosted educational trainings for hundreds of nonprofit leaders, and worked in coalition to protect nonprofits. Most recently, CAIR brought together dozens of civil rights groups to help block the Nonprofit Killer Bill.

Over 18,000 Americans used CAIR’s emergency action alert to tell their member of Congress to oppose the bill, which would give a single official in the Treasury Department the power to declare that a nonprofit has supported terrorism and strip away its tax-deductible status without normal due process. This dangerous bill passed the House, but has been blocked in the Senate. CAIR’s policy experts continue to lead the fight to protect nonprofits in 2025.
