(WASHINGTON D.C., 6/17/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today congratulated Lina Khan on her appointment as chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). She is the first American Muslim to serve in the position.
Khan was sworn in as chair on Tuesday, after the Senate voted 69 to 28 across party lines to confirm her. She is described as a “prominent critic of Big Tech,” and will work to regulate the behavior of large corporations, enforce antitrust laws, and fight monopolies.

We are confident that Ms. Khan’s work will, God willing, create a more just and equitable environment for consumers and businesses across America.”
