(BALTIMORE, MD, 10/13/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed an investigation by two Maryland schools into alleged racist incidents at sporting events.
In Montgomery County, Md., Albert Einstein and Sherwood high schools are investigating reports of racist incidents that occurred during girls’ soccer and volleyball games between the two schools on September 30th and October 4th, respectively. Sherwood students are accused of making racist comments to Asian-American Albert Einstein athletes.
On Monday, the two schools met to discuss the harm caused by racist language. Albert Einstein’s principal said that the students and spectators who made the remarks “need to be addressed directly and specifically.”
