(WASHINGTON D.C., 2/24/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed guilty pleas by three men who conspired to attack power grids as part of a white supremacist terror plot.
The three men reportedly planned to attack several substations in different regions of the country, under the belief that the disruption would cause chaos and potentially cause a race war. Each of the three defendants were charged with providing material support for terrorism and face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

“We welcome the guilty pleas in this white supremacist terrorist plot to attack our nation’s power grid and thank law enforcement authorities for bringing the plotters to justice,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “As violent racism and white supremacy continue to rise nationwide, it is essential that law enforcement authorities take measures to protect Americans of all backgrounds.”
He said the American Muslim community and CAIR stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, white supremacy and all other forms of bigotry.
